Game music, live: the Kingdom Come: Deliverance concert

In February 2026 I heard the Kingdom Come: Deliverance soundtrack performed live. Pure goosebumps — and a good moment to think about what games are today.

Symphony of the Sword

On 15 February 2026, Game Music Festival hosted “The Symphony of the Sword”, a concert of music from Kingdom Come: Deliverance I and II. The soundtrack's composer, Jan Valta, was there too.

Hearing music that had accompanied me through dozens of hours of play performed live was surreal. Pure goosebumps.

Games are more than entertainment

Video games have long passed the stage of simple entertainment. They are complex works of art combining storytelling, music, technology and design. I work in game production every day, so I know how many specialisms have to come together to make the whole — and an evening like this is a reminder of how much each of them matters.

We are definitely in a golden age of gaming.

Huge thanks to Warhorse Studios for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
